Travelling to Fiji and don’t know what to bring? This Fiji packing list will tell you everything you need to pack.
Whether you are into hiking or chilling on the beach, this packing list will cover all corners to make sure you don’t forget anything!
This is the ultimate Fiji Packing List
I spent 2 weeks in Fiji and I would say this is the perfect amount of time for travelling the Yasawa Islands. A break of between 1 and 2 weeks will provide you a balance of relaxation and adventure, whilst exploring more than one of Fiji’s 300+ islands!
This packing list will be aimed at a 2-week break with suggestions for a one week holiday in brackets.

Clothing: Fiji Packing List essentials
Fiji is a Pacific Island dream boasting warm temperatures all year round, making your packing list much easier!
You’ll want a variety of breathable clothes along with a couple of nicer outfits for evenings.
Make sure you don’t forget your swimming costume and comfy pair of sandals!
Below I have listed all of the clothes you will need for a one and two(+) week Pacific getaway:
Tops x 4
- A mixture of floaty, t-shirts, and evening tops, depending on your style
Shorts x 2
Skirts x 2
- A versatile maxi skirt goes a long way in Fiji
Underwear x 15 (8 for one week)
Bikinis x 3 (2)
- Having a couple of different bikini cuts is a must to make sure you even out those tan lines!
Dresses x 2 (1)
- Having a loose dress as a beach cover-up is super handy for grabbing food in a restaurant or wandering around your resort
Shoes x 2
- 1 pair of trainers if you want to hike and are also great for the plane
- 1 pair of sandals for everyday use around your resort or homestay
- I took a pair of Tevas which were great on hikes and for wandering around the neighbouring villages to my resorts
Trousers x 2 (1)
- I would recommend floaty trousers as it can get very warm!
Socks x 3 (2)
- You probably won’t be wearing trainers often but a couple of pairs of socks goes a long way! You’ll want them for hiking or the plane
Jumper / fleece x 1
- It can get cooler in the evenings so a jumper is always a good idea to keep cosy
Overshirt
- I brought 2 overshirts with me when travelling and wore them pretty much every day
- They are great as a cover-up, to keep the wind off you in cooler moments and protect you from the sun during hikes!

Accessories
Hat x 1
Sunglasses x 2 (1)
- It isn’t essential to have more than one pair but on the islands in Fiji there won’t be anywhere to purchase sunglasses if you lose or break a pair
- It’s better to be safe than sorry so I recommend bringing a second cheap pair

Essentials for Backpacking Fiji
Suncream
- This is a must as the sun’s rays are so strong in Fiji. I promise you will still get a wonderful tan even with factor 50 on. Please be safe and protect your skin 🙂
- I HIGHLY recommend getting a separate face suncream, it is worth the money!
Fiji Dollars
- You will find getting to and from the airport nearly impossible without cash!
- I only had 20FJD and it just got me to my hostel for the night…
- I would recommend taking around 50FJD if you’re staying at resorts
Travel adapter
- They use the Australian socket in Fiji
- I took a universal travel adapter with me on my trip so whatever country I visited I knew I would be able to charge my devices
Water bottle
- Lots of resorts provide filtered water so it’s a great idea to have a bottle on you that can keep it cool
- You’ll also need water if you do any hikes because it gets HOT
Towel
- Although some resorts will give you a towel, it is not guaranteed
- I would recommend taking a microfibre towel with you as they are light, quick to dry and compact in your bag/suitcase
Toiletries
- Toothbrush
- Toothpaste
- Shampoo
- Conditioner
- Body wash
- Loofah (this allowed me to use less shower gel as it foams so easily!)
- Razor (I think you can only fly with disposable razors in hand luggage so make sure you check that with your airline prior)
- Deodorant
- Moisturiser
- If you are staying in dorm accommodation at resorts in Fiji then you will need to remember toiletries as there may not be availability to buy them on the islands!
- I took 3x 100ml silicone travel bottles for my body wash, shampoo and conditioner which ended up saving me a lot of money

Optional extras for your Fiji packing list
Makeup
- I didn’t end up wearing any in Fiji but an emergency supply of mascara and bronzer is never a bad idea
Speaker
- Always a nice idea to have some tunes on in the background and when socialising
- A speaker can also be a good way to make friends
Headphones
- As much as a speaker is a great thing to have on your trip, I would also strongly recommend headphones
- If you want some well-deserved you time, listening to your favourite songs or an audiobook can be a great way to relax
Cards
- This should almost be essential as it’s the easiest way to make friends when travelling!
Book / Kindle
- There will be plenty of time to read in Fiji
- Whether you’re by the pool or on the beach, its the perfect opportunity to stop scrolling and catch up on some reading!
Hairbands x 3
- You can never have too many hairbands but I would say 3 is an absolute minimum!
- You’ll end up losing them, them breaking, or letting someone borrow one and obviously never giving it back because we are forgetful! So make sure you bring spares
Claw clip x 1
- A claw clip is a great way to get your hair out of your face quickly but can also be dressed up at dinner times
Journal
- There is a lot of time to unwind so I loved writing in my mini journal to document all of my adventures
- I used Traveler’s Company Passport Notebook which was the best way to document my travels!
Beach coverup
- I don’t own one so didn’t use one, but it would be the perfect opportunity to get yours out of the wardrobe!

Bags for backpacking Pacific Islands
Backpack / suitcase x 1
- I used the Osprey Farpoint 40l and it was wonderful
- A 40l backpack or suitcase is more than enough room for a two-week getaway but I would recommend a 55l+ bag for longer travels
Tote bag x 1
- I am obsessed with tote bags. They are perfect for bringing a towel, book and suncream to the beach!
Small handbag x 1
- I used my Uniqlo bag that seems to have my life in and this was perfect
